Creating Your
Kali Myth
Recognizing the role of Anger in activating the life force with Expressive Arts
5 sessions at three-week intervals
on Saturdays, 11:00-14:00
Feb-May 2025
at _initative for healing arts, Bethanien, Kreuzberg

This series invites you to engage with anger through expressive arts, taking inspiration from the archetype of Kali–the fierce goddess of transformation. Kali's unapologetic power will act as a mirror to help you find your ways of being with anger, uncovering the truths it holds and letting it move through.
Kali’s symbolism–her dark indigo and blood-red hues–represent anger's raw honesty and destruction, which clears the way for renewal. In our sessions, we use the creative process to welcome honesty with yourself, find your relation with anger, and get to know your unique Kali, which may differ greatly from the traditional archetype. Visualize it in your own colors and shapes, discover the movements and rhythm of your Kali’s dance, and compose your Kali’s song.
Recognising anger in our bodies
Anger shows up in external expressions like a raised voice or clenched fists, but it also hides in internal forms like self-talk, tense shoulders, or tight jaw. It is an emotion we often label as negative and tend to suppress. We invite you to acknowledge anger as a healthy response and to move beyond judgment. In our sessions, we will observe its signs in our bodies, explore what triggers it, learn from it and release it at your own pace.
Play and creative writing are powerful tools for embodying and verbalising, both literally and metaphorically. You will craft your myth of Kali that can hold what you’re now carrying in your body. This myth will be witnessed as we learn from each other in the group process.
Workshop Series
It's a series of sessions designed to delve into the layers of anger, and self-discovery. These sessions occur at three-week intervals, allowing time for the process to germinate and integrate into everyday life. We encourage you to commit to attending the whole series, as our wish is to create a consistent group to share this experience. However, if you can only make it to a few sessions, you’re welcome to book individual ones. Our group will stay small and intimate, with no more than 8 people.

The Role of Expressive Arts
Expressive arts is an intermodal approach that integrates low-skilled art practices with high sensitivity. You don’t need any art experience to join–it is accessible to all. There’s a dynamic interplay between different forms of expression and senses, such as movement, sound, visuals, play, and writing. It focuses on the human potential, allowing you to activate the inner resources needed for transformation.
The Facilitators

“I am a Facilitator/Student of Expressive Arts Therapy. I am currently composing my Master's thesis on the therapeutic effects that Occur through neuroplasticity in our Brain, with consistent practice of intermodal art forms in our everyday life. My background includes theatre, literature, creative writing, and a fascination with myth, fairy tales, and Jungian concepts.”

“I am an Expressive Arts Facilitator, pursuing an MA in Expressive Arts Therapy. I explore the notion of “self”, embodied knowing and “self”-realisation through the creative process. For me, arts is a pathway to sensing and experiencing meaning. My background includes digital design, behavioural research, and a fascination with phenomenology, embodiment and movement.”
